Document Description
EDUCATE will implement a green schoolyard project at one preschool site. Project activities will include removing 4,200 square feet of concrete and asphalt, replacing 3,000 square feet of concrete with permeable surfaces such as decomposed granite, engineered wood fiber, sand pit, and artificial turf. 5 fifteen-gallon shade trees and 99 one-to-five-gallon shrubs will be planted. 3 wrap-around tree benches, 4 wood tables, 16 log seats, 2 sand tables will be added.

This project meets the requirements of Class 4 Categorical Exemption (Minor Alterations to Land) Section 15304. Project implementation will result in alterations to the land that are best described as minor in scope. It has been concluded that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. The Department has concluded that no significant adverse environmental impacts will occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forest resources, air quality, biological water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, populations and housing, public services, recreation, transportation and traffic, utilities and service systems, or wildfires risk. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on the file at CAL FIRE's Headquarters in Sacramento.
