Document Description
This project will procure or re-build two light rail vehicles (LRV) with new technologies, including an onboard energy storage system capable of sustaining an off-wire operating capacity of over 10 miles. These vehicles are to be between 120 and 135 feet and pass all regulatory requirements. The LRV Research Project has a planned five-year evaluation period which includes community outreach. The purpose of the project is to enhance the capacity, improve operational efficiency, and integrate modern technological solutions into the existing LRV or future fleet.

CEQA Guidelines Section 15302 applies because the Project involves replacing or re-building existing light rail vehicles.
