Document Description
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), pursuant to authority granted under California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Division 4.5, Chapter 20, Sec. 66270.61, has issued an Emergency Permit to the Takeda Development Center Americas, Inc. (Takeda), (EPA ID# CAR000286682) to treat hazardous wastes through a controlled reaction with chemical solutions. Specifically, two (2) 25-gram and one (1) 6-ounce containers of 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine, one (1) 6-ounce container of 2,4 Dinitrophenol, one (1) 25-gram container of Nitrourea, one (1) 200-gram container of 1-Hydroxybenzotriazole , one (1) 5-gram container of 1-Methyl-3-Nitroguanidine, three (3) 25-gram containers of p-Toluenesulfonyl Hydrazide, eleven (11) (including three (3) 100-gram, two (2) 25-gram, two (2) 10-gram, and four (4) 5-gram) containers of 3,6-Dichloro-1,2,3,4,5-Tetrazine, two (2) 25-gram containers of 2,2 Azobisisobutyronitrile, one (1) 25-gram container of Diazald, one (1) 5-gram container of 1,1-AzobisCyanocyclohexane, four (4) 25-gram containers of Diethyl Amino Sulfur Trifluoride, one (1) 100-gram container of Sodium Amide must be stabilized prior to transport to an authorized hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility. These chemicals are currently being stored at Takeda, located at 9625 Towne Center Drive, San Diego, California. DTSC has determined as a safety precaution to prevent an accident or severe injury, an Emergency Permit should be issued to chemically stabilize the hazardous wastes prior to storage and eventual transportation off-site by Clean Harbors Environmental Services (Clean Harbors).
