Document Description
The Department of Cannabis Control, pursuant to authority granted under Business and Procession Code, Section 26012, approved a commercial cannabis Retail license submitted on 04/24/2024, by JN Development, Inc. The Project will consist of a retail cannabis facility located at 2436 Almaden Rd (APN 456-23-004) on a 21,780 square foot (SF) lot within a Commercial Zone. The facility will occupy the 4,356 SF building on-site. Previous use of the building on-site was retail/office space as a Chase Bank. The building is serviced by public utilities and no expansion of use is proposed. Proposed Interior and exterior modifications include installation of new centrally monitored burglar alarm, installation of new camera system, and installation of exterior signage. Operation hours will be Monday through Sunday, from 9:00AM to 9:00PM. The applicant anticipates a maximum of 20 employees, on-site in 2 separate shifts, Shift 1 and Shift 2. Shift 1 is 7:00AM to 4:00PM and consists of 10 employees. Shift 2 is 3:00PM to 9:00PM and consists of 10 employees. The applicant estimates at least one delivery per day of supplies and projects being delivered to the facility.

Class 1 Categorical Exemptions consist of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alterations to existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency’s determination. None of the exceptions to this exemption defined in Section 15300.2 apply.
