Document Description
Pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1652, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved the Maria Ygnacio Fish Passage Implementation – Patterson Ave Bridge submitted by Maurico Gomez, South Coast Habitat Restoration/Earth Island Institute.
The Project will modify the existing concrete slab under the Patterson Ave Bridge that creates a fish passage barrier through the construction of sediment retention sills, which will be filled with engineered streambed material and provide a roughened channel bottom to allow for fish passage. Grading of the channel and banks will occur, followed by the installation of rock-slope protection. Erosion control and native vegetation will be installed post implementation. Aquatic species will be relocated prior to implementation, a coffer dam will be installed, and a diversion will be established for the duration of implementation. The Project will provide a net benefit to Southern California steelhead (Onchorhynchus mykiss) by remediating a priority fish passage barrier and increasing riparian cover. The Project area is 0.35 acres and 300 linear feet
