Document Description
The Project is proposed to create a more reliable water supply during the summer months for the City of Escalon and to provide a large long-term supply of high-quality water for land use allowed under the approved general plan. Project components consist of a tee connection underground near the intersection of Escalon-Bellota Road and Dodds Road; a pipeline extension of 19,500 linear feet of 18-inch diameter PVC pipe; a flow control facility with above and below ground structures (flow meter vault, valve vault, electrical panel, 10-kW propane generator, communications equipment); a City-owned Booster Pump Station with above and below ground structures (pump station, 125-kW diesel generator, CMU block electrical room, 10,000-gallon storage tank, wet well, four pumps). No impacts on historically significant resources are indicated in the CEQA Initial Study prepared for the Project. The Project will be installed within existing and proposed easements using open trench and bore and jack methods of construction. The City initiated outreach with the Native American Tribes Most Likely Descendent affiliated with the Project location pursuant to AB 52 were contacted: Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, California Valley Miwok Tribe, Chicken Rancho Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, Ione Band of Miwok Indians, Nashville Enterprise Miwok-Maidu-Nishinam Tribe, North Valley Yokuts Tribe, The Confederated Villages of Lisjan, Tule River Indian Tribe, Wilton Rancheria, Wuksache Indian Tribe/ Eshom Valley Band, and the United Auburn Indian Community of the Auburn Rancheria. On September 5, 2024, the City received a response from the California Valley Miwok Tribe. The tribe indicated that they understood the nature and purpose of the proposed Project and the tribe did not have any further comments or concerns.
