Document Description
The project will connect two existing sidings creating a second main track within ACE's most congested corridor, permitting double track operation between Fremont and just north of the Alviso Wetlands. Through connecting the existing sidings, the project will require alterations to one private at-grade crossing and require one new 35-foot bridge over a drainage canal. The project will increase overall operating capacity and permit addition trains to run on the trackway.

The project is statutorily exempt from CEQA pursuant to PRC Division 13 Section 21080(b)(10) and Section 15275 of the CEOA Guidelines in that the project will occur entirely within rail right-of-way already in use and is aimed at improving the operational reliability and capacity of the existing passenger rail service provided by the Altamont Corridor Express.
