Document Description
The project consists of; replacement of 5,510 linear feet of six-inch sewer pipe with eight-inch pipe, and rehabilitating existing brick manhole by installing liner. Additionally, the scope of work would also include reconnecting all impacted service lateral. The scope of work will include, but not be limited to: trenching, the upgrade and/or replacement of sewer mains with vitrified clay pipe, the removal and replacement of asphalt concrete pavement with, base material, backfill material, curb and gutter, grate inlets, clean-out structures, concrete pavement, and sewer manholes, conducting a construction survey, striping, and traffic control. The proposed sewer improvements will be constructed within the existing street right-of-way.

Reasons for Exemption
The CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 categorically exempts projects that involve the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration to existing facilities, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. The project is exempt because it involves the upgrade and/or replacement of existing sewer lines that are physically damaged and/or to address an existing capacity deficiency that is identified in the City’s approved Sewer Master Plan. The proposed work does not trigger the exceptions to exemptions listed in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 and does not expand the existing use.
