Document Description
The California Department of Water Resources is proposing to replace and upgrade the failed Lake Lois hydrometeorological station that is part of the Statewide Monitoring Network. Proposed activities include replacing the failed 25G Rohn tower with a galvanized hinged fold tilt pole attached to a ballast tray foundation. The ballast tray would be placed above ground near the existing snow pillow and filled with rock or aggregate material. New equipment and sensors would be attached to the proposed pole, while soil moisture probes would be installed adjacent to the proposed hinged fold tilt pole to collect soil moisture data.

The failed tower is being replaced and upgraded to meet current safety and design standards, while outdated data collection equipment is being upgraded to collect accurate information under used as part of the Statewide Monitoring Network. These activities qualify for coverage under Section 15301. Existing Facilities, 15304. Minor Alterations to Land, and 15306. Information Collection. The proposed replacement and modernization of this weather station has been designed to minimize and avoid potential impacts to environmental resources, scenic resources, cultural resources, and special status species. The project will not result in any significant impacts to the environment.
