Document Description
High wave activity during the 2023/2024 winter caused varying degrees of damage to Mirada Road between Magellan Avenue and Medio Avenue and the rock slope protection (RSP) fronting the roadway. The Mirada Road Repair Project is the short-term emergency action to stabilize the roadway and repair the RSP. The emergency work will involve removing existing rocks from the damaged section of RSP and repositioning them to strengthen other parts of the RSP. An approximate 530 linear foot section of the damaged pavement and underlying base will be excavated, reconstructed with new fill (controlled low-strength material – CLSM), and repaved. A new rock underlayer and armor layer will be added in front of the roadway repair. A precast concrete block wall will be installed along the edge of pavement to reduce wave overtopping and maintain public safety and access. Avoidance and minimization measures will be implemented to avoid impacts to water quality and sensitive natural resources.
