Reasons for Exemption
The project will be constructed on the CAL FIRE Lockwood Fire Station located at 67820 Jolon Road, Lockwood, CA. The project area is rural and surrounded by ranch lands with grass and oak woodland vegetation. The project involves trenching and installation of a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) line. The trench is approximately 3 feet deep and 3 feet wide to contain a 1-inch diameter LPG line. The line will run from an apparatus bay to a propane tank and will be approximately 20 feet in length. The trench will be backfilled and compacted once the LPG line is installed. All project work will occur in areas that are currently developed. The project will take approximately 2 to 5 days to complete This project fits within the above-listed Categorical Exemption listed in the CEQA Guidelines. Field review by CAL FIRE staff confirmed that no exceptions apply which would preclude the use of a Notice of Exemption for this project. CAL FIRE has concluded that no significant environmental impact would occur to aesthetics, agriculture and forestland/timberland, air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, greenhouse gas emissions, hazards and hazardous materials, hydrology and water quality, land use planning, mineral resources, noise, population and housing, public services, recreation, transportation/traffic, or to utilities and service systems. Documentation of the environmental review completed by the Department is kept on file at the CAL FIRE San Benito – Monterey Unit Headquarters office at 2221 Garden Road, Monterey, CA 93940.
