The LHUD is located in Kern County on both sides of State Highway 46, approximately two miles west of Interstate 5. Terrain in the LHUD is relatively flat, which is typical of the Central San Joaquin Valley. The natural slope of the LHUD service area is approximately 1 to 2%. The average ground elevation ranges from approximately 250 to 300 feet above mean sea level.
