Document Description
Project will ameliorate threats to alkali wetland plants and ecosystems, including the federally endangered Amargosa niterwort, by (1) constructing a protective fence and population augmentation in 27 acres of occupied habitat; (2) securing 50 seed collections of alkali wetland plants and 10 collections of culturally important plants to support restoration; (3) hydrological monitoring in Carson Slough to support critical data gathering necessary for Amargosa niterwort recovery; (4) provide a robust set of information on the distribution of plant species and vegetation assemblages along the full length of the California portion of the Amargosa River with preparation of a botanical inventory; and (5) engage the community about proposed restoration activities and educate the public about the endangered plant species and their habitats.
