Reasons for Exemption
The City of San Diego conducted an environmental review and determined that the project would qualify to be categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15303(a) (New Construction). Section 15303(a) allows for the construction of new small structures including accessory structures. Since the project would be constructing an ADU above an existing garage, a small hobby room
adjacent to the garage and a 50 square-foot extension to the existing garage of an existing single-family home and no environmental Impacts would occur, the exemption was deemed appropriate, None of the exceptions described in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
