Document Description
The Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council proposes to reduce hazardous fuels and improve ingress/egress surrounding infrastructure in the community of Green Valley Lake in San Bernardino County, California. Treatment will occur within 100 ft. of infrastructure and along existing access points. Portions of the infrastructure targeted for treatment occur in San Bernardino National Forest land. CAL FIRE has provided funding toward the implementation of this project via Wildfire Prevention Grant #5GG21114, awarded to the Mountain Rim Fire Safe Council in the 2021-2022 grant cycle.

The California Environmental Quality Act does not apply to prescribed fire, thinning, or fuel reduction projects undertaken on federal lands to reduce the risk of high-severity wildfire that have been reviewed under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) if the primary role of a state or local agency is providing funding or staffing for those projects. All grant-funded project activities on federal land are included in the San Bernardino National Forest’s Categorial Exclusion Decision Memo titled “Dyberg Fuels Project” signed in 2024.
