Document Description
The project consists of low intensity prescribed underburns to improve community fire resiliency, reduce risks to first responders during a wildfire, and preserve the ecological integrity of the property, while also reintroducing fire as an ecological and cultural process to promote and maintain historically fire-dependent communities. Burn units for 12 private landowners are identified totaling 175 acres. Under the specified prescription(s), the burn(s) will result in the combustion of primarily fine and 10-hour fuels. Butte County native species within the burn units benefit from moderate-intensity fire, especially during fall and winter; ground disturbance would be superficial and minimal. The project does not have the potential to result in the taking of endangered, rare or threatened species nor in significant erosion or sedimentation of surface waters.
