Document Description
The project proposes to replace a wooden abutment on an existing pedestrian bridge in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park with a new concrete abutment to allow for the continued use of the pedestrian bridge by park visitors utilizing the Karl Knapp Trail.
Over a two (2) week period, work will:
• Use ropes to tie the bridge to nearby trees to stabilize the structure;
• Remove the rotted wooden abutments; and
• Install the new prefabricated concrete abutment in the same location as the removed wooden abutment.
All work will be done by hand to protect wildlife and fish during implementation of the project and there will be no in-water work. Foot traffic on the banks of the creek will be limited to the maximum extent possible.
