Document Description
Approval of an amendment to an existing contract to provide continuous street sweeping services at OC Waste & Recycling’s existing landfills that will support continued Countywide landfill operations and compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. OC Waste & Recycling is responsible for managing the County’s solid waste disposal system and manages three active regional landfill operations, three composting processing facilities, 20 closed solid waste disposal sites and four household hazardous waste collection centers. OC Waste & Recycling anticipates the need for increased street sweeping services for dust mitigation due to several upcoming and ongoing construction projects and increased services are needed to maintain landfill exterior and interior roads. This project will also support regulatory compliance.

The proposed action is Categorically Exempt (Class 1) from the provisions of CEQA pursuant to Section 15301 of the CEQA Guidelines, since Class 1 (Existing Facilities) consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographic features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency's determination. Contract work at OC Waste & Recycling landfills will serve to enhance environmental protection in conformance with regulatory requirements.
