Document Description
The Buena Vista Pumping Plant (BVPP) domestic waterline is leaking and eroding a bench road. San Joaquin field division plans to repair the leak and road. To repair the road, a backhoe and/or hand tools will be used to divert water away from the road. Once the road is dried, a backhoe or grader will be used to grade the road. A water truck may be used to control dust and aid in compaction. A backhoe will also be used to remove vegetation on the road west of the leak. That area will be used to stage equipment during the pipe repair. After the road is safe to drive on, the water will be turned off and a water vacuum truck will be used to expose the damaged pipe. Around 12 feet of the pipe will be exposed. Once exposed, a section of the pipe (around 10 feet) will be removed using hand tools. Afterwards, a new section of pipe will be installed. After the water has been turned back on and the new pipe has been cleared of any leaks, the pipe will be reburied. A backhoe and/or loader will be used to bury the pipe. A dump truck will be used to transport dirt. A water truck may be used to control dust and aid in compaction. All work will take place within the DWR right of way. Work is estimated to take a month to complete. This work is necessary to repair the bench road and to repair the BVPP domestic waterline, which feeds water into the BVPP fire suppression system.
