Document Description
The purpose of this Project is to restore and preserve wet meadow ecosystem function and resiliency in Grouse Meadow, and to provide downstream benefits to the West Walker watershed. Proposed restoration actions include constructing a rocked valley-bottom grade control structure, removing encroaching lodgepole pine trees, hand constructing multiple low-tech wood grade control structures including both post-assisted log (PALS) and beaver dam analogs (BDAs), treating head-cut features by filling artificial channel/ditch features and placing coir logs, and removing two non-functional upstream culverts and replacing them with two rocked and hydrologically disconnected from the road, low water crossings. The Project will impact a total of 0.42 acres and 245 lineal feet of wetland and stream channel. The Project is expected to enhance a total of 13 acres of aquatic resources.
