Document Description
Project proposes to install thirteen (13) Automated Pay Machines (APM) in eleven (11) State Beaches and Parks within the Santa Cruz District to provide park visitors with easier pay options and the ability to pay from their car prior to parking. At each chosen location, work will: • Remove existing iron ranger pay tubes, where necessary; • Excavate to pour a 3 ft x 3 ft x 6in. deep concrete slab, where necessary; • Install one (1) APM and, if needed, two (2) steel safety bollards; and • Where possible, connect to an existing power source at kiosk or other park facility. Three (3) of the proposed new APMs will be powered by integrated solar panels and will not need to connect to electrical sources.

Project consists of the operation, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels and is included as “Utility repairs or minor upgrades” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities in accordance with CCR §15300.4; construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; and minor public or private alterations in the condition of land or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
