Document Description
The proposed project consists of granting a special use permit to Paul Smith for the Marin Century at all Stafford Lake Park reservable sites and approximately 6,000+ parking spaces. The event would occur on August 3, 2024 between 5 AM and 8 PM. Set-up and take down would occur from 9 AM to 5 PM the day before and the day after the event. Approximately 2,000 pre-registered participants are anticipated. The event would include amplified sound and the sale of food, drink, or merchandise.

The project consists issuing a special event permit at an existing facility for a public gathering. Stafford Lake Park was designed with reservable space for this type of event and there is a past history of this facility being used for this purpose. There is a reasonable expectation that this event would not represent a change in the operation of the facility and that the event would not result in cumulative impacts; significant impacts on the environment due to unusual circumstances; affect the significance of historical resources. The project is not located within an officially designated scenic highway or on a hazardous waste site pursuant to Government Code Section 65962.5.
