Document Description
The project is limited mitigation activities to offset the impacts of transmission line clearance within the American River Parkway and the floodplain of the American River. The project will establish native tree and shrub species while reducing invasive plant populations, such as yellow star thistle (Centaurea solstitialis). In total, the project will install approximately 1,193 plantings for the mitigation sites in the Lower Sunrise area and in Discovery Park. The plan utilizes a system of “pods” or planting units that incorporate a mix of tree and shrub species. These pods are a repeatable design unit that can be multiplied to fit the restoration site areas. Each pod is 5,056 square feet and two pods have been designed, each with a distinct plant layout.
