14 CCR § 15301 provides for the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. This project is categorically exempt under 14 CCR 15301 because it modifies an existing facility without negligible or no expansion of existing use. 14 CCR § 15302 provides for the replacement or reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. This project is categorically exempt under 14 CCR 15302 because the new floating dock with a vehicle charger and battery energy storage system will be located on the same site as an existing facility and will have the same purpose and capacity as the structure it replaces. 14 CCR § 15303 provides for the construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; installation of small new equipment and facilities in small structures; and the conversion of existing small structures from one use to another where only minor modifications are made in the exterior of the structure. This project is categorically exempt under 14 CCR 15303 because the installation of the floating dock with a vehicle charger and battery energy storage system involve the installation of small facilities. 14 CCR § 15311 provides for the construction, or placement of minor structures accessory to existing commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities. This project is categorically exempt from 15 CCR 15311 because it involves the construction or placing of minor structures that are accessory to an existing ferry terminal.
