Document Description
The Project aims to rehabilitate aging infrastructure, increase hydraulic capacity, and comply with anticipated stricter regulations on nutrient discharges into the Bay. The Project includes the following components that would be completed concurrently: a new WPCF Administration/Laboratory Building, a Primary Effluent Equalization Facility, and Preliminary and Secondary Treatment Improvements. The Project will have the capacity to treat wastewater flow and loading up to and through the year 2048, with space reserved for future expansion. A key element is a new biological nutrient removal process designed to reduce total inorganic nitrogen discharges, anticipating future changes in effluent discharge limitations prescribed by the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board. The Project would consist of two separate construction packages: the WPCF Administration/Laboratory Building Project, and the WPCF Improvements - Phase II Project (which includes the Primary Effluent Equalization Facility, and Preliminary and Secondary Treatment Improvements).
