Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project meets the categorical exemptions guidelines and has been determined to be exempt from the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), per section 15302, Class 2 "Replacements or Reconstruction of Existing Structures and Facilities under subclass (b) Replacement of a commercial structure with a new structure of substantially the same size, purpose, and capacity. Subclass (c) Replacement or reconstruction of existing utility systems and/or facilities involving negligible or no expansion of capacity. The renovations or modernization of elevators 1 and 2 is considered a reconstruction for the County facility and is consistent with the Class 2(b)(c) exemption.
