Document Description
This project is exempt from CEQA as this minor modification to the previous Santa Rosa Academy Public Use Permit 2011-165 (PUP2011-165) for additional parking stalls, a classroom addition and two new exterior staircases has been determined to be Categorically Exempt (“Accessory Structures” and “Minor Additions to Schools”) under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, Section 15311 (“Class 11”) and Subsection 15314 (“Class 14”). Class 11 consists of construction or replacement of minor structures accessory to existing commercial, industrial or institutional facilities including but not limited to a) on premisis signs, b) small parking lots, and c) placement of seasonal or temporary use items such as lifeguard towers, mobile food units, portable restrooms, or similar items in generally the same locations from time to time in publicly owned parks, stadiums, or other facilities designed for public use. Class 14 consists of minor additions to schools within existing school grounds where the addition does not increase the original student capacity by more than 25% or ten classrooms, whichever is less. The addition of portable classrooms is included in this exemption. The proposed project is for the minor addition of 24 parking stalls, a 900 square foot classroom addition to Building D (interior square footage, footprint of structure unchanged) and two new exterior staircases at Santa Rosa Academy, which will not increase the student capacity by more than 25%. Therefore, the project is exempt from CEQA.
