Document Description
The proposed project would involve the reconstruction of the District's South Terminal shore power substation that was damaged during the December 21, 2023 atmospheric river rain event that exceeded the 1,000-year storm threshold in the areas of Oxnard and Port Hueneme. During the storm, the system was inundated with up to 18 inches of rain water from precipitation and sheet flow from the surrounding areas, causing the system to short out and be subsequently powered off for the public safety. The District is undergoing redesign to rebuild this critical piece of infrastructure in order to build resiliency of the system in addition to meeting the compliance requirements of the California Air Resources Board's At Berth regulation and relieve the burden of air pollution from ocean-going vessels docked at the Port of Hueneme for our surrounding communities.
