Reasons for Exemption
The booster pump station structural fire hardening project is categorically exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15301, Class 1 existing facilities. A Class 1 exempt project consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. A qualified archaeologist will consult the cultural records for the booster pump stations to confirm the stations are not historic and a qualified biologist will conduct a desktop review to identify any special-status species that have a potential to be encountered during the fire hardening retrofits.
