Document Description
The project is limited to the biotechnical stabilization and revegetation of an eroding bank along the Russian River. The project will require stabilization of approximately 180 linear feet of the bank of the Russian River using rock riprap and interplanted with willow (Salix sp.) stakes. The project will result in 1,980 square feet of permanent impact to riparian habitat and no temporary impacts to riparian habitat. Approximately 360 square feet of open water habitat will be temporarily impacted during the placement of a boulder keyway. Four riparian trees will be removed as part of this project. Access and staging will occur via an existing driveway and developed backyard. Construction of the vegetated rock riprap bank protection will require work in the flowing water of the Russian River. A turbidity curtain will be used to prevent sediment from exiting the site. All equipment will be operated from dry land, but the bucket of an excavator may contact the live stream to place key boulders of the bank stabilization structure within the surface water fo the Russian River.
