Document Description
The Project is limited to the stabilization and restoration of a section of the north-facing riverbank of the Napa River
(Stream) within the property limits of Calistoga Elementary School. This Project’s objective is to stabilize the river
bank and support water quality and riparian habitat along 340 linear feet of the Stream and is preceded by several
recent bank failures upstream of the Project site. The Project involves removing a chain-link fence, concrete
debris, and rock armoring from the existing site, regrading approximately 0.17 acres (7,200 square feet) to reduce
bank steepness, in-kind replacement of a storm drain outfall with rock armoring features, in-kind replacement of
the chain-link fence with poured concrete bases, and replanting of the site with native plants. Clearing of the bank
prior to regrading will include the removal of 12 native and non-native trees. The Project will result in 160 square
feet of permanent impacts to the stream bank and 0.225 acres (9,816 square feet) of temporary impacts to the
riparian area.
