Document Description
Notice of Exemption. The project will construct a new, publicly accessible coastal “overlook” (viewing platform) along a west-facing slope adjacent to La Jolla Shores Drive. The approximately 455-square-foot overlook would be constructed primarily of wood with two Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant parking spaces and access off of an existing paved access road, bench seating, decomposed granite pathway, and solar-powered blue light emergency phone and security camera. The project would remove an invasive eucalyptus tree cluster and would reseed the area with an ecologically appropriate native plant mix. The project site is a heavily disturbed area with minimal native plants present, and the project would not result in significant impacts to native habitat area. Tree removal will occur outside nesting bird season, or will be surveyed to ensure no active nest is present prior to the removal.
