Document Description
The Project will allow for the installation of four new ground mount photovoltaic (PV) solar panel systems to replace existing systems at three elementary schools and the District office. The list of schools and their addresses is attached. The existing systems were installed in 2012. The Project will not increase student capacity or expand the school beyond its current footprint. The school will improve energy efficiency and reduce electrical demand while offsetting electricity generated by power plants burning fossil fuels. The Project would benefit the school, the District, the community and the region by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lower their carbon footprint.

Notice of Exemption

Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 1 §15301 (c); Class 14 §15314
Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 includes the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public structures, facilities, and mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of use; and Class 14 includes minor additions to existing schools where the addition does not increase student capacity by 25% or ten classrooms. The Project is consistent with these categorical exemptions because there would be no increase in student capacity and the Project would occur entirely within existing solar array areas already installed at the schools and District office. There is no new ground disturbance involved in this project.
