Document Description
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is proposing to install four monitoring wells near Big Pine, CA. As shown in attached map, T997 will be located west of Highway 395 and north of County Rd. T998 will be located northeast of Big Pine and south of Highway 168. T1000 and T1001 will be located west of Highway 395 and south of Fish Springs. These monitoring wells will be used to monitor groundwater elevations in the underlying aquifers to better understand aquifer conditions and improve water resource management in the Big Pine area. The exact depth of each well will be determined after reviewing the lithological logs obtained from pilot boreholes. T997 will consist of 3 strings of 3 or 4-inch diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) casings to monitor groundwater levels at three depths. The other three monitoring wells (T998, T1000, and T1001) will each consist of 2 strings of 3 or 4-inch diameter PVC pipe to monitor groundwater levels at two depths. The work area for each monitoring well will be approximately 100 feet by 100 feet and utilize existing roads for site access and material laydown. Work vehicles will be restricted to existing compacted roads and turnouts.
