Document Description
The City of Fortuna is partnering with the California Department of Transportation, on a Clean California grant-funded project to rehabilitate two concrete medians on Main Street and Highway 101. The improvements will be visible as one enters the City from the Highway 101 south Main Street off-ramp and departs the City via North Main Street to the Highway 101 north on-ramp. Improving the aesthetics of this important entrance to the City has been a community desire and a City goal for years as the islands are currently barren and don’t provide a welcoming feel as motorists are coming or going from the City of Fortuna. Beautification of the larger median will include a low-growing, drought-tolerant meadow surrounded by a dry creek border, overall landscaping, a gateway monument, and an approximately four-foot-wide perimeter of decorative concrete,. The smaller median will include matching decorative concrete, and possibly a small amount of similar vegetation.. The project will provide an important gateway into Fortuna, benefiting visitors and community members alike.
