Document Description
The overall goal of this project is to enhance riparian and upland habitat for wildlife by stewarding for culturally significant plants by the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation. The 4.5-acre project involves targeted removal by hand of invasive plant species such as Himalayan blackberry, thistle, and brier rose. Removed invasives and excess woody debris will be pile burned in upland habitat. Ladder fuels will be hand trimmed. Willow walls will be implemented for bank stabilization after invasive removal. Native pollinator friendly and culturally significant plants will be planted with supporting practices such as irrigation, mulch, hand weeding, and access control fencing will be installed to control access of cattle into the riparian area.
