Document Description
The project includes 0.5 acres of oak woodland restoration in valley oak riparian forest, upland of Dry Creek in Denair, Merced. Project involves hand thinning of valley oak seedlings and saplings followed by chipping. The benefit is allowing some trees to reach mature size by releasing from competition. Additionally, the project will also remove and dispose of 5,000 ft of hazardous barbed wire fence, which
will prevent injuries to wildlife and girdling of trees. Lastly, three bluebird nest boxes will be placed in an open area outside of the forest to provide nesting habitat for bluebirds or other small cavity nesters.
