Document Description
The project consists of restoration and rehabilitation of several buildings in the City’s historical park, Leaora L. Blakey Park. The park features several structures associated with Westminster’s past, including a museum building, a barn, a blacksmith shop, and a farm house. Maintenance of the facilities was deferred due to a reduction of available funds during the pandemic. Repairs on the museum building will include repairing 16 awning windows, replacing plaster or sheet rock ceilings in the kitchen, the stage area, and the copier room. Also included are a new water heater, a new enclosure for the electrical panel and new exterior paint. Repairs to the barn include roof work, siding renovation to preserve the siding, and installation of new concrete pavement adjacent to the barn. New siding will be installed on the blacksmith shop. The farm house will get new exterior siding, replacement of the back door, and repair of awning windows. The beneficiaries of the project include the City Historical Commission that meets in the museum and maintains an office there, residents of the City who are able to experience the sense of what Westminster was like at the beginning of its history as a city, and visitors to the city.
