Document Description
The lease amendment is for a regional communication site (RCS) located at an existing University of California San Diego (UCSD) facility. The purpose of this amendment is to clarify which RCS sites UCSD is allowed to use as consideration for our antenna on their hospital. It also clarifies the approval process to add additional equipment to County RCS sites. The amendment also extends the term four years through January 11, 2033. The lease amendment would add the existing Sierra Rojo County Public Safety Communications Site to the list of sites on which the University of San Diego is permitted to operate and to extend the lease expiration date to January 11, 2033. The existing Sierra Rojo Communications Site to be included in the lease includes one-fourth rack space (2’x2’x1.75’) for microwave, sensor, networking, and power equipment, one polarization of an existing County microwave dish, four 90° sector antennas (14”x9”), and sensor equipment consisting of four fixed field of view cameras, two cameras, and one meteorological sensor. This lease amendment does not involve any improvements.

The Lease agreement between the County of San Diego and the Sheriff’s Department is categorically exempt from CEQA pursuant to Section 15301: Existing Facilities as it involves amending an existing lease to clarify which existing RCS sites are available for UCSD use and identify approval process for additional equipment will allow for the continuation of an existing use of an existing facility that would have no permanent effects on the environment and does not involve the expansion or change of the existing use. Further, no exceptions listed in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply to the project.
