Document Description
This project involves a Water Reduction Program Agreement between Sacramento River Settlement Contractors Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation (SRSCNC), individual Sacramento River Settlement Contractors (SRSC), and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation). SRSCNC and individual members of the SRSC would enter into an Agreement with Reclamation to forego a larger percentage of their contract supply in specified drought years in Phase 1 (2025-2035): reduce contract supply by up to 500,000 acre-feet during specified drought years; and in Phase 2 (2036-2045): reduce contract supply by up to 100,000 acre-feet during specified drought years. Reduced contract supply would be accomplished through various actions by SRSC including groundwater substitution, cropland idling and shifting, conservation, and through implementing drought-resiliency projects. By reducing the amount of water that is released from Shasta Lake and diverted by the SRSC, the project would consequently allow for additional flexibility in Reclamation's management of operation of the Central Valley Project during drought conditions. In addition, SRSC will engage in drought-resiliency projects to strengthen the resilience of the SRSC’s water systems and long-term water delivery capabilities.
