Document Description
The project proposes the legalization and continued use and maintenance of an existing unpermitted hedge and fence in the required front, side, and rear yard setbacks and within the public right-of-way along 77th Street and a 5-foot easement in the rear yard setback in conjunction with an existing single-family dwelling and Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) in the R1V2 Zone. The applicant requests a Zoning Administrator's Adjustment to permit an existing hedge and fence that is a maximum height of 8 feet in the front yard setback and located within the public right-of-way along 77th Street in lieu of a 3-foot 6-inch fence height in the front yard setback and Zoning Administrator's Adjustment for an existing hedge and fence that is a maximum height of 10 feet in the side and rear yard setbacks in lieu of an 8-foot fence height in the side and rear yard setbacks. The existing 10-foot hedge and fence is also located within a 5-foot easement in the rear yard setback.

Reasons for Exemption
The City of Los Angeles has determined based on the whole of the administrative record, that substantial evidence supports that the Project is exempt from CEQA pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301, Class 1 (Existing Facilities), and none of the exceptions to the categorical exemption pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 applies to the proposed project. The proposed project will not result in significant cumulative impacts from successive project of the same type in the same place. The project does not involve unusual circumstances. The proposed project will not damage scenic resources in a state scenic highway. The project site is not a list compiled pursuant to Government Code Section 65962.5 related to hazardous waste sites. The project will not cause a substantial adverse change in the significance of a historical resource. The project was found to be exempt based on the following: Section 15301, Class 1 - (Existing Facilities) consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use.
