Document Description
The El Cuartel building is a part of the Royal Presidio of Santa Barbara, constructed in 1788. There is no building reinforcement, making it at risk of unrepairable damage from a seismic event if not reinforced. The project will seismically stabilize the adobe building, restore the roof to its original configuration and introduce an accessible ramp for increased visitor accessibility. Every effort will be made to maintain historic character and adhere to historic preservation guidelines. Further detail describing the work to be completed and measures to be implemented to avoid and minimize impact may be obtained by submitting a request to the project Environmental Coordinator listed below.
