The proposed project is categorically exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under Class 1, "Existing Facilities," of the CEQA Guidelines, Section 15301 c and 15304. The proposed project qualifies for these categorical exemption because the project consists of the repair and maintenance of existing public structures involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use, including improvements to existing roadways for the purpose of public safety. Therefore, the proposed project will not have a significant effect on the environment and is exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
