Document Description
The Department of Water Resources (DWR) San Joaquin Field Division (SJFD) will shut down and dewater specific areas of the California Aqueduct coastal branch, in order to safely perform various maintenance activities (electrical, mechanical, corrosion protection, inspection, and cleaning). This yearly work is called the Coastal Outage. For the 2024 Coastal Outage, DEPP forebay, BLPP forebay, and POPP forebay will be dewatered. Water from DEPP will be discharged into a sediment basin. Water from POPP and BLPP will be discharged into an adjacent natural drainage. The 2024 Coastal Outage will begin in October and last until the end of November. Dewatering activities will take approximately 15 days per site to complete. The project benefits the public and private sector, which depends on the California Aqueduct for water delivery.
