Reasons for Exemption
This action is categorically exempt pursuant to Section 15302 of the Guidelines for the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), which states that the replacement or reconstruction of existing structure and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, at the time of the CEQA determination, and is therefore exempt from CEQA. This project involves the removal of an existing fire station that was originally constructed in 1961 and is no longer function to serve the needs of the emergency responders located at the site and construction of a new fire station at the same site to serve the same purpose as the original structure.
