This exemption consists of basic data collection, research, experimental management, and resource evaluation activities which do not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource. These may be strictly for information gathering purposes, or as part of a study leading to an action which a public agency has not yet approved, adopted, or funded. Component tasks including the installation on monitoring wells, stream gages, and other activities specifically to gather data, monitor, and assess resource activities. These activities have limited to no physical disturbance to the physical environment and associated resources. Any required permits would be ministerial, i.e., monitoring well installation from Division of Environmental Health.
