Document Description
Project uses contracted hand crews to conduct removal of hazardous vegetative fuel to CAL FIRE Zone 2 defensible space standards for wildfire hazard mitigation in the Fork Fire Scar around homes and within the public right-of-way on both sides of Lark Lane, Poy Ah Now, Tunobi, and Road 228 within the Fork Fire Burn in North Fork, CA. Project size is approximately 2 miles of roadways and 20 home sites. This project falls under section 21080(b)(4) and 15269(c) as the project actions will help prevent and mitigate a potential fire emergency along private roads in the burn scar that act as the only established evacuation routes. CALFIRE MMU has determined that 100' of fuel clearance around homes in the scar is required due to high severity conditions. This project also provides a reduction of fuels in the burn scar, protecting the communities of North Fork and Cascadel.
