Document Description
Replace the existing aging Camp Skylandia Lodge at Tahoe State Recreation Area with three (3) shipping containers, modified to serve as office and/or storage, to improve access, aesthetics, and meet current Camp Skylandia needs. Work will use heavy equipment and hand tools to: • Demolish and remove the existing Camp Skylandia Lodge structure; • Within the project footprint, place approx. 148 feet of 4x6 in. treated lumber on grade to serve as foundations for the new containers; • Place two (2) 20 ft long x 8 ft wide x 8 ft 6-in. tall (160 sq. ft) containers and one (1) 10 ft long x 8 ft wide x 8-ft 6-in. tall (80 sq. ft) container on the lumber foundations; • To install an ADA-accessible decomposed granite (DG) pathway to the new office door, on an approx. 100 ft long x 36-in. wide access route: o Excavate approx. 4 – 6-in. deep; o Install weed barrier fabric over the excavated pathway area; o Fill with 2-3-in. of base material and compact; and o Fill with 2-3-in. of DG and compact. • Install an ADA-accessible ramp to shipping container office door; and • Paint all containers brown to blend with the surrounding facilities.
