Document Description
Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) owns and operates the Moreno Valley Regional Water Reclamation Facility (MVRWRF). The MVRWRF has two belt filter presses and one centrifuge, which are used to remove water from anaerobically digested sludge. The centrifuge performs daily dewatering, and the belt filter presses are used as a backup when the centrifuge is offline or scheduled for maintenance or repairs. The two belt filter presses were originally installed in 1990 and have experienced significant wear. To ensure that the MWRWRF has adequate operational capacity, redundancy, and a reliable sludge dewatering process, one belt filter press was refurbished in 2018, and the second press currently needs refurbishment. The MVRWRF Belt Filter Press Refurbishment Project (project) will be implemented to refurbish the second belt filter press. The project involves the replacement of corroded components, roller assembly units including bearings, an updated wall-mounted hydraulic unit, new hydraulic lines, belt steering components, and a vertical drain section. The beneficiaries of this project are EMWD’s diverse customers, and the communities served. The District implements and manages predictive and maintenance programs that enable a highly reliable operation of EMWD’s facilities and extend the useful life of assets.
