Document Description
Crimson Pipeline LP requested permission to inspect and repair its existing pipeline located in the Department of Water Resources right of way. Its Contractor will excavate an approximately 10-foot-long by 5-foot-wide by 7-foot-deep area to expose an existing underground 20-inch electric resistance welded pipeline. When the pipeline is exposed, the epoxy coating will be removed, and the pipeline will be cleaned and inspected. All points where damage is observed will be repaired by welding a sleeve of material, compatible with the existing pipeline, over the damaged area. A new epoxy coating will be applied to the repaired portion of the pipeline and the excavated area will be backfilled, compacted, and restored to original contours.

Reasons for Exemption
Crimson Pipeline LP requested permission to inspect and repair a pipeline located in the Department of Water Resources (DWR) right of way. This work will not expand existing or former use of the pipeline. Work will occur in areas with an average slope of less than 20 percent, and work will not result in any changes in land use. DWR will issue an encroachment permit for completion of this work. Categorical Exemption 15301 (Existing Facilities) and Categorical Exemption 15305(b) (Minor Alterations in Land Use Limitations – Issuance of minor encroachment permits) apply.
